Getting started
Does my child need any music experience?
No. Most students in The Garage start from zero, and the program is built for that. Kids who already play are welcome too.
What ages do you teach?
Ages 8 to 18.
What instruments can my child learn?
Guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals. Every band has two guitars, bass, drums, keys and a lead singer.
How does instrument choice work?
Your child tells us their first choice when they sign up. We work to honor every student's choice while balancing each band across all six spots.
What if my child is shy about performing?
That's completely normal. We build up to the showcase gradually, and many shy students surprise themselves with how much they enjoy the stage once they're prepared.

When are rehearsals?
One two-hour rehearsal a week, on a weekday evening. Each band has its own night. Seasons run 12 weeks and end with a live show.
Where are rehearsals?
Normandy Presbyterian Church, 108 Center St., Normandy, TN 37360. Families come from Manchester, Tullahoma, Shelbyville, Winchester and McMinnville.
When does the next season start?
See the Shows page for dates. Families on the priority list hear first when enrollment opens.

Does my child need their own instrument?
For rehearsals, we provide drum kits, keyboards, amps, microphones and a sound system. Guitar and bass players bring their own instrument. For home practice, every student needs something to practice on. We're happy to help you find it.
Where can we find an affordable instrument?
It doesn't need to be fancy. KK's Music in Manchester and Tullahoma, and Facebook Marketplace, are good places to start.

How much does it cost?
$600 per 12-week season. Payment plans are available, and siblings get 10% off.
What's included?
Twelve weeks of rehearsals and instruction, use of all rehearsal gear, practice tracks and charts, and the showcase. A program T-shirt.

Can my child keep going after one season?
Yes. Students can return each season with a new band and new songs. They can also request to stay with their current band.
Can my child switch instruments?
Often, yes. Tell us when you enroll for the next season, and we'll work it into band placement.
